3 HEALTHY SNACK Recipes | Creamsicle Smoothie, Protein Guacamole, Power Ice Cream

This video was sponsored by Metamucil, however all opinions are genuine.

Abbey partnered up with Metamucil to share three of her favourite snacks for keeping her hunger monster at bay. Planning healthy snacks is the key to preventing those hangry situations. For that reason, Abbey always keeps something on hand that has one or more of those hunger crushing compounds like fat, fibre and protein. Today, Abbey has incorporated all of these compounds into three tasty fast ideas that will help satisfy your hunger.

First up is the creamsicle smoothie. In a blender, combine frozen bananas, fresh oranges, high protein Greek yoghurt and the secret ingredient: Metamucil’s Meta Appetite Control. It can be difficult to get enough fibre in a day, so this is an easy way to get 6 grams in just two teaspoons of Metamucil Meta Appetite Control. Not only does fibre help us to feel full for longer, but it also helps us with our digestive health, heart health and regularity. It also gives the smoothie a yummy thick consistency. Depending on how you like your smoothie, you can thin it out with a little bit of unsweetened vanilla almond milk.

The second snack is protein guacamole. This recipe starts with skyr yoghurt, which is an Icelandic yoghurt that has more protein than Greek yoghurt and is thicker and less astringent. In a bowl, mix skyr yoghurt with mashed avocados and lime juice until combined. Add in diced tomatoes, jalapeños and fresh cilantro. Serve it up with fresh cut veggies for dipping and enjoy.

The third and last snack is a power ice cream. This recipe starts with cottage cheese, which has 25 grams of protein per cup. In a blender, puree plain unsweetened cottage cheese with frozen strawberries until it turns into a creamy smooth froyo texture. You can add honey or maple syrup to taste but it is also perfectly sweet just as is. Put it into the freezer until it solidifies for about an hour. When it’s ready, spoon it out into a serving dish and finish it off with a drizzle of almond butter and some crushed toasted almonds.

There you have it! Three easy nourishing snack ideas to help get you to your next meal without the hangry meltdown.
