Jamie Eason makes healthy eating a sweet treat! Her honey almond protein crisps are a great alternative to store-bought sweets and processed snack bars.

Direct from the Bodybuilding.com kitchen, I’m here to help you bake a delicious cheat-worthy treat! My honey almond protein crisps are super simple, and work as a nutritious indulgence during any strict transformation diet.

Yes, these crisps are healthy alternatives to other baked snacks, but they’re still a treat—not an everyday staple for your nutrition plan. They definitely beat the store-bought stuff, though. These crisps even include healthy fats, protein, and antioxidants!

Sweet Tips
1. When buying almond butter, don’t get the one with added oils—just raw ingredients. You can substitute peanut or any other nut butter.

2. Honey is good for you—occasionally. It’s loaded with antioxidants. It’s not for everyday consumption. Treat it like a treat.

3. Leave out the brown sugar if you don’t want the calories or extra sweetness.

4. Add walnuts, peanuts, and/or mixed dried fruits into the mix if you wish.

5. This recipe contains enough healthy fats that you don’t have to use any non-stick sprays in the dish.

6. Make it fun for kids by using cookie cutters to make shapes!

Honey Almond Protein Crisp (Yields 18 Servings)
Ingredients
3 cups Nature’s Path Crispy Rice
1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
1 cup whole oats
1/4 cup crushed almonds
1/2 cup Xylitol brown sugar
3/4 cup smooth almond butter
1/2 cup honey

Directions
1. Pour the crispy rice, protein powder, whole oats and crushed almonds into a large bowl and shake gently. Avoid stirring, to keep the protein powder from settling on the bottom.

2. In a small glass bowl, combine the brown sugar, almond butter, and honey, and microwave at 30-second intervals, stirring until combined.

3. Add the almond butter mixture to the crispy rice mixture and stir with a rubber spatula until every piece is coated.

4. Spread the mixture evenly into a 9×13 Pyrex dish, or use cookie cutter shapes as molds, and fill with the mixture, pressing firmly into place. Place the 9×13 Pyrex dish in the freezer for at least one hour. Allow the crisp to soften a bit before cutting the squares, or simply break off pieces with your hands. (If using cookie cutters, be sure to remove them before putting the crisp in the freezer.)

5. Store in the freezer.
