Healthy Recipes – Oats Pancakes from 3 Ingredients (Oatmeal + Banana + Milk)

Hello guys !

In the above video I want to teach you how to make a delicious desert/breakfast from only 3 healthy ingredients oats, banana and milk.

I recommend using very ripe bananas, as they will add sweetness to your pancakes. Also, you can use any type of milk (cow, almond, soy, rice, etc.). In this video I’m using 3,5 % fat cow milk.

The first step is to grind the oat. I prefer this instead of oats flour, because this way I can be 100 % sure there are no additives.

The second step is to add the milk over our freshly grinded oat. The proportion of oat cereal/milk should be 1:1 (the volums of both oat cereal and milk should be the same). I’m using cups to measure this. For every cup of oat cereal (not yet grinded) I’m using a cup of milk.

Next step is to crush the banana, then add it to the composition. I used a fork to crush the banana, but you can also use a blender for a smoother result. I usually use 1 banana if the oat quantity is smaller than 200 grams (~7 ounces). You can use 2 bananas if the oat quantity is 300-400 grams (~10,5 – 14 ounces). You can get around 7-10 pancakes with 200 grams (7 ounces) of oat.

Now, we have all our ingredients in place, so we are ready to mix them. I’m using a vertical mixer but any mixing device is good enough. Keep the mixing speed to a minimum, and wait until the composition is homogeneous.

It’s time to turn on the hob. You can do this step earlier in the process, as it takes some time for the pan to be heated. VERY IMPORTANT: as you can also see in the video, keep the flame to a minimum (this is applicable for any type of pancakes). Otherwise you will end up having some burned unhealthy pancakes.

After the pan is heated, pour some of the composition in it. Given the fact that these pancakes are pretty thick and fluffy, I would recommend choosing a pancake size that can easily be turned with a spatula (a diameter of ~15 cm (6 inches) is more than enough).

You noticed that I’m not using any oil in the pan. I’m using a special pancake pan to avoid using oil. By “special”, I mean a 20 $ pancake pan, so I would say is worth the investment :), cooking in a healthier way by not using oil.

Once in the pan, the composition should be left there for ~3-4 minutes. You can notice that the edge of the pancake is starting to change it’s color and consistency. I usually turn the pancake when almost the entire composition changed it’s color. Use a spatula to turn the pancake (it’s easy and safe). Leave the pancake on the other side for another 1-2 minutes, then remove it from the pan. Repeat the process with the rest of the composition.

It’s best to eat the pancakes while they are still warm, but they are also tasty when cold (for example, eating them for breakfast after you cooked them last evening). In my video, I’m eating them with maple syrup. You can also use honey, or grated dark chocolate, or whatever you like, as long as it’s healthy :).

If you have any questions regarding the video or this description, kindly ask them and I’ll do my best to answer as fast as possible.
