Learn how to make Methi Chicken recipe at home from our chef Smita Deo on Ruchkar Mejwani. Methi Chicken is a delicious Indian main course recipe prepared from chicken tossed in rich Indian spices and fenugreek leaves.
Ingredients:
6 chicken drumsticks
¼ kg methi leaves
For The Marination:
1 tsp garlic paste
1½ tsp ginger paste
Juice of 1 lemon
1 tsp black pepper powder
For The Gravy:
5 tbsp mustard oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
2 medium onions finely chopped
1 tbsp finely chopped ginger
3 green chillies finely chopped
½ cup yogurt
Juice of ½ a lemons
¼ cup fresh coriander finely chopped
3 tbsp of fresh cream
Garam Masala Paste
1 black cardamom seeds, ½” cinnamon, ½ star anise, water
Method:
– Marinate the chicken with garlic ginger paste, lemon juice and pepper powder
– Heat the mustard oil and crackle the cumin seeds. Then add the chopped garlic once they turn golden add the ginger and the green chillies and sauté for a minute and onions and fry till golden.
– Add the methi leaves and saute for a few minutes. Add the yogurt and cook till the oil separates
– Add the chicken and cook till the meat is done and the sprinkle the garam masala and mix well, garnish with fresh cream and serve.
